'पृथ्वी घूर्णन दिवस' (Earth's Rotation Day) 8 जनवरी
प्रतिवर्ष 8 जनवरी को Earth's Rotation Day (पृथ्वी घूर्णन दिवस) मनाया जाता है। यह दिवस फ्रांसीसी वैज्ञानिक Jean Bernard Léon Foucault (जीन बर्नार्ड लिओन फोकाल्ट) के जन्म दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है, क्योंकि लियोन फोकाल्ट ने 1851 में अपने एक मॉडल से साबित किया कि पृथ्वी अपनी धुरी पर कैसे घूमती है। इसी वजह से उनके जन्म दिन को अर्थ रोटेशन डे (EARTH ROTATION DAY) के लिए चुना गया।लगभग 470 ईसा पूर्व यूनान के कुछ खगोलविदों द्वारा यह दावा किया गया था कि पृथ्वी घूमती है, किंतु वे इसे प्रमाणित नहीं कर सके थे कि कैसे पृथ्वी स्वयं की धुरी पर घूमते हुए सूर्य का चक्कर भी लगाती है। कई सालों तक कई प्रकार के अध्ययनों के बाद लियोन फोकाल्ट ने पहली बार एक पेंडुलम मॉडल से समझाया कि पृथ्वी अपनी धुरी पर घूमते हुए सूर्य का चक्कर भी लगाती है। कुछ वर्षों के बाद लियोन फोकाल्ट का पेंडुलम वाला मॉडल काफी प्रसिद्ध हुआ और पृथ्वी के गति को देखने के लिए इसका प्रयोग किया जाने लगा।
पृथ्वी के घूर्णन में 0.5 मिली सेकंड कमी हुई
हम सभी ने पढ़ा है कि पृथ्वी अपने अक्ष पर एक चक्कर 24 घंटे में पूरा कर लेती है और साथ ही 365.25 दिन में सूर्य का एक चक्कर पूरा कर लेती है। 24 घंटे में 86400 सेकंड होते हैं एवं इतने समय में पृथ्वी अपना एक चक्कर पूरा करती है। लेकिन विगत वर्ष जून माह में देखा गया कि पृथ्वी के घूर्णन में 0.5 मिली सेकंड की कमी आई है। नई रिपोर्ट चौंकाने वाली है। पृथ्वी अब थोड़ा तेज घूम रही है और अब यह अपना चक्कर पूरा करने में 0.5 मिली सेकंड कम समय लगा रही है।
'Earth's Rotation Day' is celebrated every year on 8th January. The day is celebrated as the birthday of the Francis scientist Jean Bernard Leon foucault, as Leon proved in 1851 from one of his models of how the Earth rotates on its axis. For this reason his birthday was chosen for the 'Earth Rotation Day'.
Around 470 BCE it was claimed by some astronomers in Greece that the Earth rotated but they could not prove how the Earth revolves around its own axis. Leon Foucault, after a number of studies for many years, first explained from a pendulum model that the Earth revolves around its axis, orbiting the Sun. After a few years, Lion Foucault's Pendulum modal became very famous and it was used to observe of the motion of the Earth.
Earth's Motion Decreased by 0.5 milli second.
We all have read that the Earth completes one round on its Axis on 24 hours as well as a one round of the sun in 365.25 days. There are 86400 seconds in 24 hours and in this time the earth completes one round. But in June of last year, it was seen that the rotation of the Earth has decreased by 0.5 milli second. The new report is shocking. The Earth is the now spinning a bit faster and now it is taking 0.5 milli second less time to complete its Orbit.
