लोहड़ी पर्व विशेषतः पंजाब प्रांत में मनाया जाने वाला एक लोकप्रिय उत्सव है। यह पर्व मुख्य रूप से भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सिक्खों और हिंदुओं के द्वारा हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। सूर्य देवता जब उत्तरी गोलार्ध में आने को होते हैं तब मकर संक्रांति के 1 दिन पूर्व प्रतिवर्ष 13 जनवरी को सूर्य देवता के भव्य स्वागत हेतु मनाया जाता है। इस पर्व के अवसर पर पंजाब प्रांत में आधिकारिक स्तर पर राज्य भर में अवकाश होता है।लोहड़ी पर्व आने से पूर्व लोग अपने घरों को अच्छी तरह से सफाई करते हैं और सजाते हैं। इस पर्व के अवसर पर लड़कियाँ, महिलाएँ, बच्चे और युवा सभी लोग जमकर खरीददारी करना पसंद करते हैं और नये वस्त्र धारण करने के साथ अपनी अलग शैली को प्रदर्शित करते हैं। सभी एक दूसरे को बधाइयाँ देकर खुशी का इजहार करते हैं।
यह पर्व पहली फसल आने की खुशी में प्रति वर्ष मनाया जाता है। वैसे तो इसे पंजाब का त्यौहार माना जाता है किंतु देश भर में इस पर्व की छटा कई प्रांतों में देखने को मिलती है। उत्तर भारत के पंजाब, हरियाणा और दिल्ली जैसे राज्यों में जहां सिक्खों की तादाद ज्यादा है वहां खास तौर पर मनाया जाता है। लोहड़ी साल का पहला बड़ा त्यौहार होता है जिसे धूमधाम से सभी के वर्ग के लोगों द्वारा मनाया जाता है।
इस त्यौहार के दिन शाम के समय बड़ी सी अलाव जलाई जाती है और लोग इसके चारों ओर घूमकर नृत्य करते हैं, गाना गाते हैं और जमकर मस्ती करते हैं। लोहड़ी पर सभी लोग खाने-पीने का बहुत आनंद उठाते हैं। इस दिन परिवार की महिलाएँ एवं अन्य पारिवारिक सदस्य पंजाबी बोलियों में गाते-गुनगुनाते हैं, हँसते हैं और एक दूसरे से हँसी-ठिठोली करते हैं। सभी लोग मिलजुलकर आनंदोत्सव मनाते हैं। पंजाब में आम तौर पर घरों में गन्ने के रस और चावल के रस में दूध मिलाकर स्वादिष्ट खीर तैयार करने की भी परंपरा है। आजकल तो लोगों द्वारा होटलों में लोहड़ी व पार्टी मनाने का प्रचलन भी शुरू हो चुका है।
कुछ भी हो लोहड़ी पर बहाने से लोग एक साथ इकट्ठे होकर खूब मस्ती करते हैं एवं एक दूसरे का हालचाल पूछते हुए खाते पीते हैं। लोहड़ी एक अवसर है, सबको एक दूसरे के करीब लाने और भाईचारा बनाए रखने का। हम सभी भारतवासियों को मिलजुलकर इस पर्व को मनाना चाहिए।
Lohari festival is a popular festival celebrated especially in the Punjab province. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Sikhs and Hindus mainly in the Indian subcontinent. When the Sun God is about to enter the northern hemisphere then one day before of Makar Sankranti is celebrated on January 13 every year for the grand reception of the Sun God. On the occasion of this festival Punjab province has an official statewide holiday.
Before Lohari festival people clean and decorate their houses well. On this occasion girls, women, children and young people all like to shopping fiercely and wear new clothes and display their different style. All Express happiness by congratulating each other.
This festival is celebrated every year in the joy of the first harvest. Although it is considered a festival of Punjab but the festival is seen in many province across the country. Particularly celebrated in states like Punjab, Haryana and Delhi in North India where sikhs are more in number. Lohari is the first major festival of the year, which is celebrated with pump by people of all classes.
On the day of this festival a big Bonfire is lit in the evening and people walk around it, dance, sing and have fun. Everyone enjoys eating and drinking on Lohiri. On this day women and other family members sing and hum in Punjabi dialects, laugh and laugh at each other. Everyone celebrates the festival together. There is also a tradition in Punjab to prepare delicious Kheer by mixing milk in sugar cane juice and rise juice, usually at home. Nowadays the trend of people to celebrate Lohari a party in hotels has also started.
Whatever happens on the pretext of Lohri, people gather together and have a lot of fun and drink while asking each other health. Lohiri is an opportunity to bring everyone closer to each other and to maintain Brotherhood. We all Indian should celebrate this festival together with great brotherhood.
